My Story...
I'm Nicky and I live in Wanborough, Wiltshire with my husband and Tigger the terrier.
I started my working life as an Estate Agent and then moved into HR for a long time whilst my children were small. When I was approaching my 40th year, I felt the need to try something different and started working for our local College, teaching IT skills to adults in the Community. I set up a Distance Learning programme which enabled people who couldn't attend in person the opportunity to study and learn from the comfort of their home. This was prior to Online learning being a 'thing'.
I had to take some time out to support my son who had health issues and when these were resolved I returned to the College as the Adult Leisure Course Co-ordinator. During these years, I was immersed in creativity, organising courses including art, sewing, pottery, stained glass and many more.
I started taking pottery classes and mainly created hand built items because I can't get the hang of throwing! I got my sewing machine out and had a go at free motion embroidery. My family bought me a scroll saw and I spent many an hour cutting items to paint and sell. I still love all these things but it was creating mosaics with stained glass that really grabbed me! I started making mosaics when I turned 50 and was hooked straight away.
It is such a mindful art form, which allows you to forget about life for a while, as the process is very absorbing. My hope is to allow others to experience the same joy I feel when a plan comes together and you finish the project you had formulated in your head.
